A workshop on lesson planning was conducted, providing valuable insights into effective teaching practices. Dr Rupal Thakkar initiated the workshop by emphasizing the importance of lesson planning and introducing its essential components. She highlighted the need for creativity and diverse teaching aids in the classroom, setting the stage for an engaging and impactful learning experience.

Dr Hema Bhadawkar continued the workshop, focusing on Bloom’s Taxonomy and its connection to objectives and learning outcomes. Participants actively engaged in discussions and collaborated to generate examples based on various taxonomies. The session explored the criteria necessary for constructing objectives, learning outcomes, and evaluation strategies in lesson planning. Quizzes were also used to apply Bloom’s Taxonomy, further enhancing participants’ understanding.

Ms Takshashila Jadhav conducted a session on content analysis in lesson planning, highlighting its significance in designing effective lessons. Content analysis involves systematically examining the subject matter, identifying key concepts, learning objectives, and relevant resources. It ensures alignment with curriculum standards and students’ needs, while also organizing and sequencing content in a logical and coherent manner. By proactively addressing potential challenges or gaps in knowledge, teachers can enhance the quality and effectiveness of lesson planning, promoting meaningful learning experiences.

Dr Manisha Gawde conducted an orientation session on co-teaching, outlining its implementation and components. Co-teaching was emphasized as a collaborative approach, with lessons conducted in pairs or with a partner. The session outlined the structure of a lesson plan, including set induction, aims, teaching strategies, recap, and evaluation. Dr Gawde also explained the importance of rough and fair lesson plans, the need for teacher approval, and the rubrics used for assessment. She provided guidance on maintaining attendance and the overall internship process.

In a seminar on core values and core elements, Ms Usha Sharma highlighted their significance in lesson planning. Integrating core values into the curriculum helps students understand the importance of ethical decision-making and fosters a sense of social responsibility. Ms Sharma discussed the ten core elements prescribed by the National Policy on Education, emphasizing their role in building character and creating well-rounded individuals. She provided examples to assist student teachers in incorporating these values into their pedagogies, enabling a holistic and learner-centered approach to teaching.

Dr Manisha Gawde conducted a session on learning experiences, introducing the concepts of learning strategies, activities, and teaching approaches. Participants learned how to deliver effective learning experiences based on the objectives and available evaluation tools. The session emphasized the importance of purposeful planning, considering prior knowledge and the age of students. Additionally, three teaching approaches—inquiry-based, metacognitive, and constructivist—were explored. Practical exercises enabled participants to develop sample teaching-learning activities in groups.

Dr Hema Bhadawkar focused on developmental and evaluation questions, essential aspects of the teaching-learning process. She emphasised the importance of an interactive classroom environment and proactive content delivery to engage students effectively. Teachers were encouraged to create situations that prompt students to develop a proper understanding of the content based on their prior knowledge. The skill of questioning, recapping, and closure was emphasised, followed by mapping evaluation questions to learning outcomes. Practical components allowed participants to create development questions for their chosen topics.

The workshop on lesson planning provided a comprehensive understanding of effective teaching practices. Through sessions on core elements, teaching strategies, content analysis, co-teaching, learning experiences, and developmental and evaluation questions, participants gained valuable insights and practical knowledge. These workshops equipped student teachers with the necessary tools and techniques to design well-structured lesson plans, incorporating core values and fostering engaging and meaningful learning experiences for their future classrooms.
