Somaiya Vidya Mandir, Laximiwadi, is thrilled to announce the inauguration of Somaiya Sports Academy on 22nd April 2024. The sports academy is a transformative project aimed at fostering a culture of sports and recreation within the community. The inauguration ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Shri Samir Somaiya, President- Somaiya Vidyavihar & Chancellor-Somaiya Vidyavihar University. This initiative is a reflection of the school’s commitment to holistic education and the well-being of its students.
With an area of 10,823 square feet, the sports center provides ample indoor space for a variety of recreational activities and modern sports facilities. In the first phase, the center has developed 4 international standard Badminton courts with 2 Table Tennis tables and Judo mats for training. The future plan is to have Squash courts, Rifle shooting, Archery, Swimming pool, Athletics track, Football Field, Kabaddi hall at the center. In alignment with a vision to nurture talent and provide equal opportunities for all, the academy will kickstart its summer camp with students from three schools- Shri Sharda English Medium School, Kopargaon, Somaiya Vidya Mandir, Sakarwadi, and Somaiya Vidya Mandir School, Laxmiwadi.

Somaiya Vidya Mandir, Laxmiwadi holds a special significance for Laxmiwadi. Established in 1959 by the visionary Padmabhushan Late Shri K J Somaiya, the school has been a beacon of education for the children of factory workers and local communities. Over the years, it has played a pivotal role in providing educational opportunities to villages in the surrounding areas, including Nighoj, Nimgaon, Shirdi, and more.
