Mega Tree Plantation Drive  by KJSCE Students’ Council

On Sunday, August 20, 2023, the KJ Somaiya College of Engineering Students’ Council, in partnership with Gayatri Pariwar Mumbai, led a Mega Tree Plantation Drive at Ashwamedh Upvan in Titwala, Mhaskal. Marking a significant stride toward ecological conservation, five senior faculty members and 20 enthusiastic students took part in this green initiative.

The event commenced on a sacred note with participants visiting the revered Ganpati Temple in Titwala, ensuring their environmental mission began with divine blessings. The official inauguration ceremony kicked off at 10:00 am, followed by the core activity of the drive. Participants were given saplings, which were carefully planted at specific distances to guarantee adequate room for growth.

Parvaah, a prominent social initiative, also lent its support to this eco-friendly event, contributing to the wider awareness about the importance of tree planting and its long-term positive impact on the environment.

Dr Sudha Gupta, Dean of Student Affairs, noted, “This Mega Tree Plantation Drive, led by the KJSCE Students’ Council, is not merely a day’s event. It’s a commitment to a sustainable future. It’s an educational experience for our students, who learn the importance of responsible stewardship for our planet.”

The event served as part of a larger campaign aimed at advocating for sustainable living and environmental responsibility—values that resonated with both students and faculty. Organized meticulously by the KJSCE Students’ Council, the drive aimed to provide a hands-on experience about the significance of individual contributions to larger environmental goals.

Participants pledged to monitor the growth of the newly planted saplings and to continue participating in future eco-conscious activities. The Mega Tree Plantation Drive thus served as a catalyst for ongoing environmental stewardship among the student body and faculty.

As the event concluded, attendees left with a heightened sense of accomplishment and a reinforced resolve to extend their contributions to environmental conservation. With more than a hundred saplings taking root, the drive symbolized a small yet impactful step towards broader environmental sustainability.
