The Shimadzu-Somaiya Center of Excellence in Analytical and Measurement Sciences (SSCOEAMS) hosted the Analytica Summit 2024 at Somaiya Vidyavihar University. The summit aimed to bridge the gap between academia and industry, fostering collaboration to develop cutting-edge analytical solutions. The summit attracted 80 participants, including industry representatives, faculty, and students providing them with valuable insights into state-of-the-art instrumentation and analytical capabilities.
Dr. Dhiraj Kumar Chopra, Vice President and Head of R&D, at Endo Pharmaceuticals shared insights on the importance of the right analytical tools and a solution-oriented approach, emphasizing the need for transparency and an unbiased attitude in analytical tasks. Dr. Somenath Ganguly, Associate Vice President, Analytical Research- Sun Pharmaceutical Industries highlighted the crucial role of basic understanding in analytical chemistry and discussed the evolving regulatory landscape in the pharmaceutical industry.
The panel discussion on “Emerging Developments in Analytical Solutions: Navigating Regulatory Compliance and Sustainable Practices,” featured experts such as Dr. Somenath Ganguly, Dr. Jitendra Kelkar, General Manager, Shimadzu, India, Dr S Sivaram, Dean of Faculty of Science, SVU, Mr. Ulhas Nimkar, Chairman, Nimkar TEK & Past President SDC-UK, and Dr. Dhiraj Kumar Chopra. The discussion covered topics ranging from reverse engineering in pharmaceuticals to the impact of chemical regulations on the textile industry.

At the outset, Dr. Achala Danait, Director of Strategy & Industry Partnerships and Dean of Research at Somaiya Vidyavihar University, welcomed the delegates and discussed the importance of industry-academia collaboration in analytical science.
On this occasion, the website of Shimadzu Somaiya Centre of Excellence in Analytical and Measurement Sciences laboratory was also launched by Dr. Lakshmi Kantam and Dr B. P. Godrej Distinguished Professor, ICT, Mumbai. The summit concluded with a visit to the Shimadzu Somaiya Center of Excellence in Analytical and Measurement Sciences SSCOEAMS laboratory.
